Learn about swim caps
The team suit will be used only during competition. Competition suits should be very snugly fitted to avoid drag and improve streamlining. If a swimmer is between sizes,
order the smaller size. Many swimmers regularly wear a competition suit a full size smaller than their practice suits. Splash Multisport is very good at sizing and will answer questions over the phone.
Caps come in latex or silicone. Latex is thinner, significantly cheaper, has a grippy surface (less sliding on hair), and
wears out faster. Silicone is thicker, doesn’t pull hair as much, is somewhat slippier, and lasts longer. Your swimmer
may experiment before settling into a preference. Sometimes swimmers with longer hair “double cap” for meets, with a
latex cap underneath for less sliding, and a silicone on top to add more compression.
