Punching his ticket to Omaha 2016 was former ICE and current Mizzou swimmer Alex Walton! He covered the 100m Backstroke in 56.97 at the Mizzou Sectionals!
ICE Time Drop Champions (Regionals): Carmela Cohen, Brennan Hill, Mesarah Hnesh, Ella Hochstetler and Alexander Thurston all dropped more than 30 seconds during their individual events. Brennan and Ella also picked up new Q times.
Congrats to the following athletes who accepted the challenge of a new event during regionals: Gary Chen (100 br, 200 fr), Jared Coiner (100 ba, 200 fr), Ella Hochstetler (500 fr), Julian Kopelman (200 fr) Claire Loria (100 br, 200 fr), Ethan McLaughlin (50 br), Aiden Petersen (500 fr), Amber Rose (100 fl), Anja Rumping (200 br).
Congrats to Abby Caylor on her 2nd place finishes in both the 100 back and the 100 fly and to Amber Rose for finishing 3rd in the 100 fly and the 500 free.
Alex Walton won his second title in the 200 IM (1:49.20 - New Iowa HS State Record), picked up his third straight title in the 100 BK (49.18), and gained Swimmer Of The Year honors at the 2015 IHSAA Boys State Championships.
ICE athletes Ryan Boeding, Meirav Flatté, Boyd Skelley, Mason Wang and Aiden White had a great time racing as part of TEAM IOWA at the 2015 Midwest All-Stars Meet! Under Head Coach Don Spellman, Team Iowa earned 3rd place overall.
12&U Championships Top 16 finishers include Ella Hochstetler (100 FL), Andy Luo (50, 100 FL, 50, 200 BA), Parth Patel (50, 100 FR & 50 BA), Heidi Du (100 BR), Emily Xian (100 BR), Boyd Skelley (50, 100 BA, 500 FR), 10&U Girls 200 MED and 200 FR Relays, the 10&U Boys 200 Med Relay, and all of the 11-12 Boys B Relays.
12&U Championships Top 8 finishes include Jessie Li in the 50 BR (8th), Ryan Boeding 100 IM (4th), 100 BA, 100 & 200 FR (6th), 50 FLY (7th), 50 BR (8th) and Aiden White who earned 4th in the 200 & 500 FR and took 5th in the 100 Fr.
12&U Championships Top 3 finishes: Ryan Boeding earned silver medals in the 11-12 Boys 200BK, 50 BK, and 50 FR. The 11-12 Boys A Relay teams finished with a silver or bronze in every relay event!
